Four Wheel Drive bring in the new year in style

Noble Happening’s New Year’s Eve Ball was illuminated by two Georgian characters, entertaining guests of the Grand Assembly Rooms, York. The event attracted guests from near and far, with the Lord Mayor and international visitors.

“As guests entered for a champagne reception they could interact with actors from Four Wheel Drive, who were in Georgian dress as relatives of Lord Burlington, who had designed the 18th Century building.” Darren Greenwood (York Press)

Guests were amazed by the magical setting of the Grand Assembly Rooms and had the opportunity to be transported to Georgian York when it was built. They enjoyed interactions with Lord and Lady Fitzroy, played by Jacob Ward and Sonia Di Lorenzo respectively. These fictional characters invited comedic interactions and photos, immersing audiences into the world of the venue.

“Wow! How wonderful it was on New Year’s Eve to experience something of the grandeur of Georgian York” Lord Mayor of York Councillor Chris Cullwick (in York Press)

Four Wheel Drive’s Artistic Director, Anna Gallon, described the creative process, designing characters bespoke for the venue, period and client brief

“For me, it’s an attempt to create a world and story, but really, it’s the talent of the actors that delivers the audience experience. Jacob and Sonia took the characters and brought them to life” Anna Gallon

The comedic interactions from the actors, along with the fantastic hair & makeup by Phoebe Kilvington and hospitality from Noble Happenings provided guests with a truly spectacular evening.

“Complete with the Ben Moss Big Band, this was collaboration at it’s finest!” Joly Black
